Chapter 12: The bet
Jacqueline and Jeff were living in their own world, feeling very blissful. Both of them acted like every couple-- sticking to each other wherever they went. Jeff was so good to Jacqueline and sprang a lot of surprises for her.
He would pretend that he was busy with work and asked Jacqueline to go to a specific place to buy dinner for him. When Jacqueline went there, Jeff would call her and tell her his whereabouts and Jacqueline would find him at that specific place waiting for her.
If he knew Jacqueline like soft toys especially horses, he would collect a whole different species of horses and gave it to her. He would buy whatever Jacqueline likes for her.
Jeff has a habit of not wanting to be disturbed while he is doing something and he would be real angry at the person for disturbing him. He would drive them out of his room and yell at them angrily. This applies to everybody except Jacqueline. It had been like this all the while since Jeff got to know Jacqueline. Even if Jacqueline disturbed him a lot of times, he just could not bring himself to be angry with her.
However, their happiness was not longlived. As usual, Jacqueline went to Jeff's house and was about to enter his room when she heard Davis spoke.
"So, how about the bet we made? Are you really going to adhere by the rules?"
"What bet are you talking about?" Jeff asked.
"It's about who Jacqueline will choose eventually. The loser will obey the winner to do everything that the winner wanted, remember? So, is the bet still on?"
"Well... If you want to obey me, I don't mind!" Jeff laughed.
When Jacqueline heard this, she ran out of Jeff's house, with tears streaming down her cheeks.
Why? Why did Jeff do this? I thought he's different from Davis, but it turns out that they were all the same! Why did he want to hurt me? I'd never forgive him! Jacqueline thought.

"Actually when I made this bet with you, I just wanted to have some fun. As the days went by, I found myself in love with Jacqueline. This bet shouldn't have been made and you need not obey me. Let's forget about this bet and don't breathe a word of this to Jacqueline, if not it'll be hard for me to seek her forgiveness." Jeff warned Davis.
"All right, I promise." Davis smiled to Jeff.
